Historic Fires of Fredericton

    Tims' Fire
    December 1951

The home of Joseph Tims was burned to the ground in a fire at the foot of Forest Hill Road just before Christmas, 1951.

Joseph Tims was in the house with his young great-grandson when the fire broke out, and they were unaware of the fire. His grand-daughter Audrey (whose family was living with him at the time) arrived home by city bus and noticed the fire and went into her father's home next door and called in the fire department.

Everyone got out of the house but there was a considerable delay notifying the Fire Department. Fire fully engulfed the top floor and quickly spread to the attic. The house, their belongings and even all the Christmas gifts, were lost.
