On September 5th, 1959, the building caught fire again, this time owned by Chippins and the section directly next to the Gaiety Theater was undergoing extensive renovations. It caught fire in the early morning hours, about 3:00 AM, completely burning out the new section in a very spectacular fire. Firefighters were able to prevent the spread into the section by the Barker House Alley. The building was completely destroyed in a 1976 fire. |
