Historic Fires of Fredericton

    Navy Club Fire
    May 28, 1975

This fire at 100 Clark St, was infamous in the fact that Fredericton Firefighter Gerry Trecartin lost his life. He and his partner, Glen MacWilliam were caught in a backdraft and Trecartin never made it out. MacWilliam was badly injured in the blast, which knocked off their helmets and facepieces.

Originally built as Devon Superior School, the building housed the Royal Canadian Naval Veterans Association, Alex's coin operated laundry, Seapaul Restaurant Equip Ltd, Bates Vending Services Ltd, Standard Brands warehouse, Fred C Morrison Ltd & Household Movers and Shippers
