The first Marysville Methodist church was dedicated on January 5th, 1873. It was built by Alexander Gibson at a cost of $65,000. It had a domed roof with a steeple that rose 156 feet. It seated 350 people.
Mrs Gibson worked closely with architect Matthew Stead to get the arches, carved columns, pulpit and dome just right. A large $4,000 organ was purchased as well. On a Sunday afternoon, January 29, 1911, the church was consumed by fire after the morning service.
