Historic Fires of Fredericton

    Keddys Motel Fire
    April 16, 1975

The Aftermath Approximately 45 people were thrown out of work after fire swept through much of the structure. Among the guests staying at the Motel, there were about a dozen MLAs who were living there during the Legislature session.

A lack of hydrants at the street and absence of fire stops in the building complicated the situation. The building was heavily damaged, but was insured and repaired.
